Definition Films is an award-winning video production company based in Sonoma County.

Our story.

Justin Liddell started filming because he wanted to capture what it felt like to race a motocross bike at full speed. No one else was getting it right, so he picked up a camera and figured it out himself.

That was 2008. He was a freshman in high school.

Today, Definition Films works with brands like Raley’s, Ridge Vineyards, and Redwood Empire Food Bank to tell the stories that define them. The instinct is the same: find the real thing, and don't flinch from it.

HOW WE WORK

We don't have a one-size-fits-all approach. Every project starts with listening, and every decision from there is made with your goals in mind. You'll always know where things stand.

  • Before any camera rolls, we spend time understanding your goals, your audience, and what success actually looks like for you.

  • Strategy, scripting, locations, and creative direction, developed collaboratively so nothing surprises you on shoot day.

  • Small, focused crews. Every setup has a reason. We move fast without cutting corners.

  • Editing, color, sound, motion graphics and 3D VFX handled in-house. You stay in the loop at every stage.

WHY DEFINITION FILMS

We run lean on purpose. Small crews, direct communication, no middlemen. You'll work with the same people from your first call to final delivery. Most of our clients have been with us for three or more years, not because they're locked in, but because it works.
